Construction Updates: Fairview Container Terminal

Prince Rupert Phase 2B Stage 1A

Learn More

The Fairview Container Terminal continues to grow—with the construction of Prince Rupert’s Phase 2B Stage 1A (P2BS1A) project currently underway. The operator of the terminal, DP World Prince Rupert Inc., has selected Kiewit as the general contractor for the project. Construction work includes the expansion of the container storage area along with associated utilities and stormwater drainage; two additional refrigeration towers; a new truck gate located at the south end of the container yard; and, two new marine habitats. The project is currently scheduled for completion in the summer of 2022.

DP World and Kiewit are taking substantial measures to mitigate construction-related impacts that may affect existing terminal operations and the surrounding area. However, local stakeholders may notice an increase in construction traffic and noise as well as temporary modifications to marine traffic patterns. As construction progresses, more detailed information will be posted below.
